Arrival and transfer to the hotel. First of all we will have a city tour in Yerevan, which is the capital of Armenia. Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world, 29 years older than Rome. You’ll visit History museum, which is a research center of Armenia’s history and culture, its national collection consists of about 400,000 objects. Next walk to Cascade Complex where. The Cascade is a truly magnificent part of the city, where art, urban life, a huge architectural complex, an idyllic green spaces merge beautifully to form an exciting, and quintessentially Yerevanian atmosphere. Then visit to the remarkable Matenadaran Library including 17,000 rare manuscripts, one of the world’s oldest repositories of Greece, You will also visit Armenian Genocide Memorial located on the hill Tsitsernakaberd. Get back to the hotel.
Overnight in Yerevan.
Take a trip to Garni. You will walk along the canyon, by the beautiful columnar basalt 9th century stone bridge over the Azat River to Garni the Pagan Temple, built in the 1 Century AD. In 1679 it was destroyed by an earthquake. In the 1975 the Temple was restored. Geghard Monastery (whose name came from the legendary lance that was used to pierce the body of Christ and has been kept here for centuries. Though the exact foundation of the monastery is unknown, the present complex was built in the mid – 13th century. Afterwards visit a local house where you will have a chance to see and participate in the preparation of the Armenian bread: lavash.
Return and overnight in Yerevan.
Drive to Gegharkunik region to enjoy the beauty of Armenian Pearl-Lake Sevan. The Lake is the highest sweet water lake in the Caucasus (2000m above sea level) and is one of the prides of Armenians. It is also rich in different types of fish ad is especially famous for its Trout. It has become a well-known vacation spot for long years. Walk to Sevanavank monastery. From its height a beautiful view of lake Sevan will be admired. Next tour to Dilijan - Small Switzerland of Armenia. Dilijan is one of the most famous resort towns in Armenia. Here you’ll find yourself in an extremely different climate zone and landscapes totally covered with thick forests and will enjoy the fantastic fresh air of the town. Drive to the Ethnic part of the city and visit the souvenir shops and also the potter’s workshop who is selling his own works. Visit Haghartsin Monastery (13 century). Haghartsin complex is located high in the woody mountains, where there are eagles and the name of the monastery from Armenian is translated as “games of eagles”. Dilijan is also famous for having International UWC Dilijan college which is the 14th member of the UWC (United World Colleges) movement, one of sixteen colleges around the world, and the first international boarding school in Armenia.
