1. Skiing & Snowboarding in Tsaghkadzor
Tsaghkadzor is a stunning resort town less than an hour from Yerevan. Formerly the training ground for the Soviet Olympic Ski team, Tsaghkadzor is a winter wonderland for avid skiers. With cozy cottages, fresh snow, luxury hotels, and a variety of local shops and restaurants to unwind after hitting the slopes – Tsaghkadzor is an ideal place for a winter escape!

2. Hot Springs
Armenia has many hot springs spread throughout the country where you can relax in any of the hot pools, jacuzzis, or saunas. The most well-known are those at Jermuk, which is roughly a two-hour drive from Yerevan. However, others are significantly closer, such as Aghveran, approximately an hour distant, or Hankavan, which is around 45 minutes away from the city.

3. Visit a Christmas Market
Like most European capitals, Yerevan is home to a lovely Christmas market in the days leading up to the festivities. While Republic Square is lit up with a massive tree and the city streets begin to resemble Christmas, bear in mind that the main event is New Year’s Eve, as Christmas in Armenia occurs on January 6th and is largely a family affair. Regardless, treat yourself to hot chocolate, pastries, corn on the cob, mulled wine, and other holiday treats at the Christmas Market that starts near The Republic Square and extends up to Northern Avenue.
4. Ice Skate in Yerevan
Head over to Swan Lake next to the Opera and Ballet Theater after A. Khachatryan, rent yourself a pair of skates, and enjoy the romantic setting in the heart of the city. Enjoy all the food stalls, games, and mulled wine nearby when you get tired!
