Fall in love with its hospitable people. Visit numerous historic monuments that trace the story of this country. 

DAY 1. ARRIVAL

Arrive in Yerevan at Zvartnots Airport. Passport control, issuing of visas. Check in to hotel.

 

DAY 2. YEREVAN SIGHTSEENG TOUR -

GARNI - GEGHARD-YEREVAN

Tour  the capital city of the Republic of Armenia will include visits to:

Matenadaran - The Research Institute of Armenia which houses beautiful centuries old illuminated manuscripts created by scribes.

Tsitsernakaberd Monument and Museum - Built in 1965, this monument commemorates the 1915 Armenian Genocide.

Erebuni Fortress  (782 BC). Ancient Yerevan was founded by King Argishti in 782 BC and named Erebuni. The castle town Arin Berd is like an  open air  museum.

The Central Market of “Shuga“-Take a walk through the huge market in Yerevan

Garni - The pagan temple is  an outstanding monument of  Hellenistic culture in Armenia. The temple was built in the second half of the 1st century BC. In 1679 the temple was destroyed by an earthquake. In 1975 the temple was restored.

Geghard - The names came from the legendary lance, supposedly the one used to pierce the body of Christ, which was long kept here. The time of foundation of the monastery is not established. The present architectural complex was constructed in the middle of 13th century. The main church-Katoghike is one of the oldest buildings in the complex. Return to Yerevan .

DAY 3. YEREVAN - KHOR-VIRAP-ARENI-NORAVANK- YEREVAN

Visit Khor Virap - the site where St.Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned by the Armenian king for preaching Christianity. You can climb down into the dark pit. Enjoy most spectacular view of the glorious Mt.Ararat. Drive through the mountaine to Vayots Dzor Province.

Visit  Noravank - a 13th century monastery with beautiful cross stones.Then we will continue our visit to Areni village. Lunch. Areni Winery Tour and wine tasting.

 Return to Yerevan.

 

DAY 4. YEREVAN - TSAGHKADZOR-NORADUZ - SEVAN

Tsakhkadzor - Most of Armenia’s preserved forests lie along the Marmarik river valley - on the eastern and southern spurs of the Tsakhkunyats Mountains. The healthy mountain air is probablyone of the reasons why ancient people have chosen to settle here-remains of their settlements is an evident proof of it.The town of Tsakhkadzor(Gorg of Flowers) is situated in a scenic, ferested area on the left bonk of the Marmarik River. Tsakhkadzor is a popular winter ski resort.

Noraduz. No trip to Armenia is  complete without a visit to Lake Sevan, one of the largest and highest altitude Lakes in Eurasia at about 1,900 meters above sea level. At lake Sevan you will visit St Karapet & St. Arakelots Churchs, then take a stroll on the beach and enjoy a boat ride in season. By then, you will have worked up an appetite and will be ready to taste the most delicious trout, fresh from the lake. Overnight in Sevan.

 

DAY 5. SEVAN - DILIJAN - ALAVERDI

Dilijan - one of the main resort towns of Armenia, is surrounded by a temperate forest.  Many wild  berries and fruit trees are found here. Visit  Haghartsin Monastery.

Alaverdi is famous since the reign of King Artashes the First (189-160 b.c.). The region is home to some of the most beautiful monasteries in Armenia.

Haghpat and Sanahin Monasteries are UNESCO World Herritage Sites.

Odzun (Monastery 6th c.) Overnight in the hotel Dzoraget in Alaverdi.

DAY 6. ALAVERDI - GYUMRI - MASTARA -

TALIN - ARUCH - YEREVAN

Gyumri - is the second largest city in Armenia. Gyumri is situated on the banks of the Akhurian River in  Shirak province and was the site of the most devastating earthquake in Armenia in the 20th century. While touring Gyumri, you will visit its national museum, located in a historic Armenian house and  the former home of the wealthy Zitoghtiants family, who were famous for their baths and brewery. Aruch Cathedral, Talin and Mastara Church. Overnight at hotel in Yerevan.

 

DAY 7. YEREVAN - ECHMIADZIN - SARDARAPAT - ASHTARAK

Echmiadzin Monastery. Visit the Echmiadzin Cathedral, the most ancient Christian temple in Armenia and the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Checkout the underground site of the pagan temple upon which the present cathedral stands. You will also visit the Museum, Churches St. Gayane and St. Hripsime.

Drive to Oshakan Village to visit the tomb of St Mesrop Mashtots, founder of the Armenian alphabet.

Tour to the small 7th century Karmravor (red) church in Ashtarak. The last one is a monastery of flowers - located near the Mountain of Aray next to the river of Kasakh. Hovhanavank and Saghmosavank.

Return to Yerevan.
